Donating to Common Roots
Common Roots relies on the generous support of our larger community—friends, neighbors, families, businesses, trusts, foundations, and other philanthropic giving. These gifts make it possible for us to sustain and strengthen our core programs and to grow in our capacity to meet our mission in new ways. Common Roots is deeply grateful to all who support our work through charitable giving and is committed to responsible stewardship of the financial resources entrusted to us by way of grants and donations.
Common Roots will maintain a transparent accounting of financial activities and will continue to emphasize efficiency, frugality, and long term success in service of our mission. Your tax deductible contributions are payable to:

With your support, we seek to pursue two initiatives critical to build future revenue streams and increasingly sustainable programs:
Improvement of Soil at Underwood:
This two-acre parcel can be used to grow organic food for schools, our programs, and wholesale accounts. In 2016, soil testing revealed that this parcel was low in iron, copper and magnesium. Common Roots purchased the minerals to amend the soil.
Soil quality is a critical component of farm production and food education. Common Roots will monitor the mineral density of this agricultural soil. There is no source of water at this juncture.
Building Community at Wheeler Homestead:
This fantastic, historic house has so much potential. We seek to create a mixed-use community space to include:
- Education for young children with an emphasis on nutrition and natural resources.
- Education for the community at large, with a focus on nutrient-dense food preparation
- Summer camps for children ages 3-6.
- Pick-up site for community food shares.
