Tuttle Middle School Expands Farm to School

By: Joyce Hendley on January 17, 2012

FHTMS Farm to School (F2S) is growing! The recent appointment of F2S coordinator Mollie Silver and F2S external liason Kristen Miceli, under the direction of Christine Lapointe, is resulting in delicious changes in our school food system. You'll find more and more locally sourced ingredients on menus (especially in the "Local Lunch" on Jan. 25th)--and students are engaging in produce taste tests and voting with their forks on their favorite veggie recipes. Want to know more? Check out the Farm to School page on the district website district website.

The South Burlington Wellness and Resilience Program: A Community-Wide Commitment

By: Ally Gravina on November 11, 2011

Perhaps the kids are late for school and you are exhausted because the baby kept you up all night crying. Or you're finding it harder and harder to help your 6th grader with his math homework. Everyone has stresses, especially parents--and the South Burlington School District understands the importance of general wellness and resilience in an effort to manage life's daily stresses. That is why, since 2008, they have offered the nationally recognized "Community Wellness and Resilience" Program for parents and other adults who are engaged with South Burlington school-aged children.

This monthly program meets throughout the school year, focusing in areas such as sleeping well, managing stress and setting goals. The practice series is free and open to all adults, taking place from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the F.H.T. Middle School Library. The program will culminate an end-of-the-year retreat on May 20th 2012 from 2-5 p.m. in the same location. Don't miss this opportunity to help manage the stress in your -- and your children's -- lives!
