Emma Denman: Interning at the Underwood Property and the Farm at South Village Hay Groves
Emma comes from Ithaca NY and is a senior at UVM majoring in Environmental Studies with a concentration in food land and community. Emma has always enjoyed her time tending to her home garden and from a young age was conscious of her impact on the world. At college she realized she could study how to be a conscious and sustainable farmer. In addition, Emma is also very interested in childhood development and wants to inspire children to be thoughtful of the earth. She believes every child should have a positive relationship with the natural world and recognizes that learning about how to grow and cook your own food is a wonderful opportunity to cultivate that relationship. Emma is very excited to be a part of this organization and to learn for herself what growing sustainable food on a larger scale looks and feels like. Someday she wants to take this experience and pass her knowledge onto others to grow sustainable food while building vibrant soil communities for future farmers. When Emma is not working on the farm she enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, exploring on foot with her camera, and hanging out with her family and friends.
