Farm Hop in Your Agrihood – Saturday, June 8th 10-2 pm
Four local farms and food producers invite the community to Jump Start a Nourishing Summer Season at our Farm Hop!
While many local families have been reveling in the beauty of this Vermont summer breaking forth, The Bread and Butter Farm with Blank Page Cafe, Common Roots, Fisher Brother Farm and The Mill Market and Deli are ready to further introduce themselves to their community.
Do you want to get to know your farmers and food producers? We are providing fun, nourishment, and tours by our women farmers and a local well-known chef. This exciting Farm Hop introduces four agrihood businesses working collectively in our small, urban radius.
What is our Agrihood? An amazing collection of farms and food producers in your neighborhood. Our collective mission is to further the “eat healthy, eat local and support your local farms and businesses” message into our community. Your agrihood businesses will jump start the 2019 season with a Farm Hop on Saturday, June 8th from 10 am – 2 pm. We are offering a fun challenge for families and friends to see if they can visit all four locations. Each agrihood business will provide fun, hands-on experiences with their farmers, food producers and educators. “Understanding farm cycles from seed to compost and back is fundamental in understanding the life force behind local food. We are preparing this Farm Hop to introduce folks to the land and the faces of the folks who produce our nourishment,” says JoAnne Dennee, land educator for Common Roots.
Join the Agrihood challenge. Visit all four sites and see for yourself how each business is integral in providing a healthy, diverse local food system. Enjoy tastings of farm-fresh foods cultivated and prepared by your dedicated farmers. “Nutrition education is a time-consuming effort which further informs our community. With helping hands our Farm Hop teaches from farms, orchards and gardens. Forming an Agrihood and bringing this first annual Farm Hop allows the community to know the faces of their farmers and food providers. This benefits our personal health, education, and social connections. We can’t thank our agrihood partners enough for coming together in this unique collaboration. Come meet some amazing farmers who help feed the world,” says Mike Proia from Blank Page Café.
Mark your calendars for June 8th, 10 – 2 pm. Bring your family and friends. Start at any farm you’d like. Have your passport stamped at each. If you visit all 4 your passport is entered to the drawing for $100 in farm certificates from your agrihood businesses.
