Common Roots definition of food equity:
Our model creates a support system for community whereby everyone has opportunity, knowledge, and choice, to enjoy satisfying locally sourced organic nutrient-dense food that nourishes their body, mind and soul.
• Knowledge comes through our education programs
• Choice is provided through our retail farmstand, food access programs and mobile farmstands at food shelves
• Opportunity comes through food distribution channels made availabel according to one's means

Food Equity
Food equity is about much more than seeing that no one goes hungry. At Common Roots, we practice food equity based on our understanding that nutritious, fresh, lovingly grown and prepared food makes a difference — increasing the health and happiness quotient gives kids, individuals and families the power to thrive, not just survive.
We founded and continue to support South Burlington's food shelf. And we offer great, nutritious options to families in need through several other community food shelves, including the Abenaki Land Link.

Let food by thy medicine and thy medicine be food.
