Cultivating culinary confidence as students prepare and share nutritious, farm-fresh meals with their families.

Common Roots

At Common Roots’ Farm to Go program, middle school students gather after school at the Wheeler House to build confidence in the kitchen while preparing nourishing dinners to bring home and share with their families.

Designed for students in grades 6–8, Farm to Go combines hands-on culinary education with nutrition, teamwork, and creativity.

This past Spring 2026 session was filled with memorable moments and delicious meals including chicken tikka masala with naan, make-your-own taco kits, and handmade scallion pancakes rolled out from scratch.
Farm to Go is part of Common Roots’ broader commitment to food education and healthy communities.

Over the years, the program has provided more than 15,000 nourishing meals for families to enjoy together at home.

Our Farm to Go sessions will return this fall, and we look forward to welcoming a new group of student-chefs into the Wheeler House kitchen.
